I went out to see the Ravensbourne Graduate show this year looking for good students and projects with commercial potential. In general I was very impressed with the digital thought of the work which is an improvement over previous years.

Freerun The City – App Walkthrough from Jan Barcikowski on Vimeo.

Jan Barcikowski – Motion Graphics
Really great concepts on Free Running and Spotify, some commercial viable projects.

Thomas Smee – Interaction Design
A strong shopping cart concept starting with creating lists at home. I would love to see this expand into other areas such as learning the carbon footprint of the food you purchase.

Origin TV User interface guide from Ryzek on Vimeo.

Ryan Dzierzek
– Motion Graphics
Really smart interaction concept called Origin TV with strong attention to audio detail. Highly polished video concept.

I just found a blog post from interactive designer Paul Neave documenting his rise to success with his Webcam Toy which was a redevelopment of a previous app. The height of success so far is 1 million Facebook likes of the app’s Facebook Page so that really is something. Well worth a read here and congratulations to him.

This is a really smart and well designed tool for creating CV’s via your Linkedin profile. The templates are clean and simple, the content is editable and it looks like it has no branding so far. You have been able to print your Linkedin profile for sometime and I have received this for a job application in this format and noticed the Linkedin logo on the last page. It might be a good model to have a free branded service and small fee for unbranded. Anyway Linkedin Resume Builder is well worth a look.

Interesting story about the studios being unhappy that Dish Networks latest “best in class” PVR allows the user to skip ad’s which have been recorded. Research has previously showed that fast forwarding ad’s can actually increase recognition of the last ad in a series of the commercial break. The story is featured on PaidContent and the BBC.

A very interesting TED Talk from Christopher McDougall about barefoot running and his theories on the evolution of man and our abilities to run. He also talks about how wearing shoes makes use heal strike which is far less efficient. The mechanism he refers to is call POSE Running and can be seen here.
