This is a really powerful tool presented by John Maeda at a recent Ted Talk – I would love to know about it but it is a area of real potential. You could possibly create this with interesting detail by scraping email, public blogs, Twitter, Facebook of public information and privately exchanged information from the parties involved.

A very interesting TED Talk from Christopher McDougall about barefoot running and his theories on the evolution of man and our abilities to run. He also talks about how wearing shoes makes use heal strike which is far less efficient. The mechanism he refers to is call POSE Running and can be seen here.

Arduino The Documentary (2010) English HD from gnd on Vimeo.

I just watched the documentary on Arduino (Micro Controller) which details the history of the project and the people who got it off the ground. It was interesting to see the figures of how many boards have been sold and the volume of traffic to the website. I think Arduino is more in the main stream then I originally thought. I have done a 2 day course with Tinker.it (now seems to link to the Arduino blog) which I found as a great intro, and here is one of the reactive interface experiments I did using processing and Arduino.

I tried Nullriver Connect360 yesterday to stream from my Mac to the XBox 360 and it worked a charm. I was surprised as I have a very convoluted network set up at home around the Mac Pro including a wifi bridge into ethernet which preforms poorly however the streaming over wifi worked great. I might even have to pay($20) for application as the down load is limited to 100 items – which is good enough!

While Skype is somewhat of a battery killer it is still quite handy to have on the go and now they have added video calling on the iPhone. I have tried it over wifi and it worked a charm and it claims to work over 3G.

I have just watched an interesting ted talk from Barry Schwartz around rules and incentives and how they impact peoples output. As Schwartz discusses, this is not a new discovery however he explains some cases where allowing individual thinking can cause a dramatic improvements in peoples lives. I first discovered Schwartz from his book The Paradox of Choice: Why Less is More which investigates why too much choice leaves us unsatisfied with our selection.

I was on the Heathrow Express twice in the past few months and noticed a stream of video billboards creating an animation as we flew past them. The billboards are placed in tunnels so when the train goes into darkness they are quite effective, however I can’t recall any of the ads, just the technology! Tanya sent me a link to a company video on YouTube here.
